Frequently asked questions
Does this really compress images?
Not directly. True image recompression requires re-rasterising every page (which loses text). This tool reduces size by stripping metadata, removing pages, and saving with object streams. For image-heavy PDFs, re-export at lower DPI from the source app.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. All processing happens in your browser via pdf-lib. The PDF never leaves your device.
How do I remove specific pages?
Type a range like "1, 3-5" to drop pages 1 and 3 through 5. Leave blank to keep every page.
What about encrypted PDFs?
The tool ignores encryption flags and will try to load the file. If the PDF is fully encrypted, optimisation will fail — decrypt first.
