How it works

Frequently asked questions

How is production capacity calculated?

Production capacity = (available time ÷ cycle time per unit) × number of machines. For example, 480 min ÷ 4 min × 2 machines = 240 units. Both time values must be in the same unit — here, minutes.

Why does real output differ from the calculated capacity?

The formula gives theoretical maximum output assuming 100 % uptime. In practice, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) — which accounts for availability, performance, and quality losses — typically reduces actual output to 60 – 85 % of theoretical capacity.

What if my available time and cycle time are in different units?

Convert them to the same unit before entering values. For example, if your shift is 8 hours and your cycle time is 240 seconds, convert cycle time to minutes (240 ÷ 60 = 4 min) or convert available time to seconds (8 × 3 600 = 28 800 s) — then enter both in the same unit.
