PDF to Markdown

Extract the text from a PDF into Markdown, in your browser.

Extracts the text layer only — scanned/image PDFs are not supported (no OCR). Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. 1Choose or drop a PDF file.
  2. 2Its text is extracted page by page.
  3. 3Copy the Markdown.

Use cases

  • Reuse text from a PDF report.
  • Move PDF content into docs.
  • Quote from a PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

No. It reads the embedded text layer; scanned/image-only PDFs have no text to extract (there is no OCR).

Is my PDF uploaded?

Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — your file never leaves your device.

Is layout preserved?

Text is extracted in reading order by page; complex multi-column layouts may need light cleanup.
