Frequently asked questions
What is a factor?
A whole number that divides another exactly, with no remainder. For example, the factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 24.
How many factors does a number have?
It varies. Primes have exactly two (1 and themselves); highly composite numbers have many. The tool shows the count.
Are 1 and the number itself factors?
Yes. Every whole number is divisible by 1 and by itself, so both are always included.
