Frequently asked questions
What formula does the energy mode use?
E = ½ × C × V². A 1000 µF capacitor at 12 V stores ½ × 0.001 × 144 = 0.072 J (72 mJ).
Why does reactance fall as frequency rises?
Xc = 1 ÷ (2πfC); frequency is in the denominator, so higher frequency means lower reactance — a capacitor passes high-frequency AC and blocks DC.
Why does it show — at zero frequency or capacitance?
The reactance denominator 2πfC becomes zero, making reactance infinite (undefined), so the calculator shows — for that input.
